Hello, I just want to know how much product do you think I need to buy for redoing the transom. It is a Zodiac just like the one in the illustration and it’s PVC. I know I’m going to need one part Hypalon Adhesive for the wood transom and 2 part PVC glue for the rest. Thank you for the great tutorial. I have one quick tip to share. I have to replace the whole transom, so I bought a sheet of 3/4″ marine plywood and used the old one as a template.

Zodiac Pvc Glue

I then rough cut it with a jig saw then I used a 2hp router with a pattern router bit. You just place the old transom over the top of the plywood and it trimmed it perfectly, exact match. I have attempted a transom refit on my 1982 Zodiac Cadet. I cleaned off all the old glue with Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) then wiped entire area with acetone. All old glue removed. Then I used 2 part hypalon adhesive to prime the rubber parts then 2 part pvc adhesive to prime the tubes.

When both parts had been drying for 30 mins I then put a second coat of 2 part hypalon adhesive onto rubber & another coat of 2 part pvc onto tubes. A Modern Course In Statistical Physics Reichl here. I then left for 5 mins to get tacky & bonded together. 48 hours later I have removed the ratchet strap and peeled the transom off as it didn’t bond. Where have I gone wrong in the process? I have an AAKRON BM380 whose transom needs refitting.

Thank you for the detailed instructions by the way, i just have one question. The transom mounts i believe are made of rubber. These appear to be still well affixed to the PVC tubes and i do not think i need to touch them. This leaves me the main task of reaffixing the transom (wood) to the rubber mounts. In your instructions, it appears that single part Hypalon adhesive affixes to both wood and rubber, but not PVC.

Since i only need to affix the transom to its mount, can i use single part Hypalon adhesive for the whole job (no PVC), or is it better to still to prime with the single part Hypalon adhesive, and use the PVC 2 part adhesive? Gsky Gs 27usb Driver Windows 7. If i still should use a PVC 2 part adhesive, how long should i leave the single part Hypalon primer for before applying the PVC bond?

Hi, I am about to attempt a transom repair on a Bombard AX2 foldable inflatable. The wooden transom would seem to be loose in the rubber mounts and it is difficult to see if any adhesive has ever been used. Does this seem right? Also the transom mounts I assume are rubber and have become detached from the tubes. In order to re-attach should I prime the rubber mounts with Hypalon adhesive and the use 2 part PVC adhesive to attache the tubes? Is it OK to prime with 2 part Hypalon?(no 1 part available in store).

Fianally having great difficulty removing old ashesive. I sispect some previous attempts to reapir have used various glues. I have used Acetone as well as Meths to try and clean but not the best effect. I have a Zodiac Futura Mark 2 which I purchased new in 1996 we use it for a couple of weeks each summer to tow our kids around and grand kids now however this summer when I pulled it up and after sitting in my driveway for a couple of days I noticed the transom has come unglued on both sides and literately was unattached It’s in excellent shape, with the exception of the transom, it looks exactly the same as when it was purchased So HELP PLEASE. Your instructions were very clear however I do not know of what materials my Zodiac is made.
